New version of mapworkspace improves the MapInfo user experience

Pitney Bowes Business Insight France (PBBI France), a provider of software solutions and data for optimization of knowledge and customer interaction, today announced with its partner Korem the launch of the new version of the mapworkspace.fr community site.

This SaaS (software as a service) solution allows users of MapInfo Professional to publish and share their projects on the web in an intuitive way. Especially aimed at the 50 000 French MapInfo Professional users, this interactive service is based on the principles associated with social networks such as managing contacts, favourites, tags, or on the interaction between users. Members may easily publish, explore, learn and discuss topics that matter to them.

Somehow, Mapworkspace is a combination of the Facebook and YouTube concepts used for map information sharing. Mapworkspace is an online map publishing solution in SaaS. It allows users to develop their maps and proceed to analysis according to their specific needs in MapInfo Professional and take advantage of this service to publish their end results. They also have the possibility to establish the sharing level of these maps, selecting either a private or public sharing mode, and to embed them on existing external sites. Maps and analysis are then searchable through various user profiles (analysts, policy makers, public …) via a web browser.

Mapworkspace environment

New functionalities to improve user experience and communications

Taking advantage of an environment in perpetual evolution, this new version offers interactive innovations:

*   A geocoding function of Mainland France on overseas territories and the entire globe
*   A calculating routes function
*   “Proximity” search of customizable points of interest

This version also offers some updates, for instance, on support of new styles for objects and MapInfo 10.5 labels as well as WMS servers, KML exportation and project view in Google Earth. Strong of these new enhancements, the platform expects numerous new adhesions in a very near future.

“In a global context emphasizing the availability and sharing of geographic information to increased knowledge, mapworkspace.frexpands the MapInfo community by offering to most users the possibility to improve their experience through facilitated access and operation”, said Jean-Blaise Diebold, Marketing Director for Pitney Bowes Business Insight France.
